Our TOP 5 dive-sites – The Lembeh-Strait

Unique Lembeh-Strait

Small island in the Lembeh-Strait

The Lembeh-Strait is in the north-east of Sulawesi and is a 15 km long and 2 km wide Strait between Sulawesi and the island of Pulau Lembeh.

Meanwhile, there are many resorts in all price ranges. Although the Lembeh-Strait is already very frequented by divers, it’s still a fantastic dive-site with very rare and bizarre species and one of the best dive sites for macro fans and photographers.

  • yellow Frogfish in sponge
  • Stargazer

Here you can see amazing species such as big snake-eels, pygmy seahorses, mandarin fish, a lot of nudibranches and frog fish, scorpion fish and some very bizarre endemic species in a variety that is unique worldwide.

So we can only hope, that this fantastic habitat don’t threatened much more by the growing industry and by increasing tourism.

Especially noteworthy in this regard is the effort to clean the Lembeh-Strait in water and also the environment of Bitung.

It’s also nice to visit the Tangkoko National Park or Tomohon with the amazing market. The volcanoes Lokon and Mahawu are still active, and you can climb the Mahawu without guide in 90 minutes.
